Whether you have previously worked with a coach or not, you need to consider the following points
to ensure that this coaching experience really works for you.
- Your coach will help you set the goals you would like to achieve and support you in making progress to reach them through a series of regular conversations
- The conversations you have with your coach can be challenging but are always supportive.
To get the most from your coaching sessions, it helps if you are committed to the process and ready to make the changes you want to see.
- In each session, your coach will help you plan simple actions you want to carry out before you meet again. It’s important to find time to complete these actions to get the maximum benefit from your sessions.
Confidentiality and Code of Ethics
- All information about the coaching process and any written notes will remain confidential, unless you disclose something that your coach is duty bound to report to the relevant authorities in line with the following code of ethics.
- Your coach will work in line with the Team Teach Coaching Code of Ethics. (see below)
Team Teach Behaviour Coaches Code of Ethics
This code provides the broad principles to which Team Teach subscribes. Principles are a code of action that guide behaviour based on values. The principles are based on Common Law, in other words they do not lay down in detail what the coach must do but gives guiding principles within which the coach can move freely.
Agreement to this code is a prerequisite to being recognised as a Team Teach Behaviour Coach. This code always acts within the context of the laws of the country where the coach works.
Team Teach is not responsible for the work of the certified coaches, but it does provide ongoing support and supervision on an ongoing basis. Certified coaches are responsible for their own work and own results.
Breaches of the code
Where a client believes that a Team Teach Behaviour coach has acted so as to breach this code, they should first try to resolve the matter directly with the coach.
Either party can ask Team Teach to help this resolution.
If the client or sponsor remains dissatisfied, they may make a formal complaint to the Team Teach Coaching Director who will investigate the complaint and issue a report.

Team Teach Coaching Standards and Ethics
These are based on the official Standards and Ethics of the International Coaching Community. The Model Standards of Conduct for Professional Coaches have also been approved by the European Mentoring & Coaching Council, the International Coach Federation, and the International Association of Coaching.
Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. A professional coaching relationship exists when coaching includes a business agreement or contract that defines the responsibilities of each party.
These Standards are designed to serve as fundamental ethical guidelines for persons coaching in all practice contexts. They serve three primary goals: to guide the conduct of coaches; to inform coaches’ clients; and to promote public confidence in coaching as a process for professional and personal development.
Note on Construction
These Standards are to be read and construed in their entirety. There is no priority significance attached to the sequence in which the Standards appear.
Various aspects of coaching, including some matters covered by these Standards, may also be affected by other applicable professional rules. These sources may create conflicts with, and may take precedence over, these Standards. However, a coach should make every effort to comply with the spirit and intent of these Standards in serving their clients. This effort should include honouring all remaining Standards not in conflict with these other sources.
These Standards, unless and until adopted by a regulatory authority do not have the force of law. Nonetheless, the fact that these Standards have been adopted by the respective approving entities, should alert coaches to the fact that the Standards might be viewed as establishing a standard of care for coaches.
Section 1. Professional Conduct at Large
- Coaches will not knowingly make any public statement that is untrue or misleading about what they offer as coaches, or make false claims in any written documents relating to the coaching profession or the coach’s credentials.
- Coaches will accurately identify their coaching qualifications, expertise, experience, certifications and credentials.
- Coaches will recognize and honour the efforts and contributions of others and not misrepresent them as their own. Coaches understand that violating this standard may leave them subject to legal remedy by a third party.
- Coaches will at all times strive to recognize personal issues that may impair, conflict, or interfere with their coaching performance or their professional coaching relationships. Whenever the facts and circumstances necessitate, coaches will promptly seek professional assistance and determine the action to be taken, including whether it is appropriate to suspend or terminate their coaching relationship(s).
- Coaches will conduct themselves in accordance with these Standards of Conduct in all coach training, coach mentoring, and coach supervisory situations.
- Coaches will conduct and report research with competence, honesty, and within recognized scientific standards and applicable subject guidelines. Coaches’ research will be carried out with the necessary consent and approval of those involved, and with an approach that will protect participants from any potential harm. All research efforts will be performed in a manner that complies with the laws of the country in which the research is conducted.
- Coaches will accurately maintain, store, and dispose of any records created during their coaching business in a manner that promotes confidentiality, security, and privacy, and complies with any applicable laws and agreements.
Section 2. Conflicts of Interest
- Coaches will seek to avoid conflicts of interest and potential conflicts of interest and openly disclose any such conflicts. Coaches will offer to remove themselves when such a conflict arises.
- Coaches will disclose to their clients and clients’ sponsors all anticipated compensation from third parties that the coach may pay or receive for referrals of that client. The “sponsor” is the entity (including its representatives) paying for and/or arranging for coaching services to be provided.
- Coaches will only barter for services, goods or other non-monetary remuneration when it will not impair the coaching relationship.
- Coaches will not knowingly take any personal, professional, or monetary advantage or benefit of the coach-client relationship, except by a form of compensation as agreed in the agreement or contract.
Section 3. Professional Conduct with Clients
- Coaches will not knowingly mislead or make false claims about what their client or sponsor will receive from the coaching process or from them as the coach.
- Coaches will not give their prospective clients or sponsors information or advice that the coach knows or believes to be misleading or false.
- Coaches will have clear agreements or contracts with their clients or sponsors, and will honour all agreements or contracts made in the context of professional coaching relationships.
- Coaches will carefully explain and strive to ensure that, prior to or at the initial meeting, their coaching client and sponsors understand the nature of coaching, the nature and limits of confidentiality, financial arrangements, and any other terms of the coaching agreement or contract.
- Coaches will be responsible for setting clear, appropriate, and culturally sensitive boundaries that govern any physical contact that coaches may have with their clients or sponsors.
- Coaches will not become sexually intimate with any of their current clients or sponsors.
- Coaches will respect the client’s right to terminate coaching at any point during the process, subject to the provisions of the agreement or contract, and will be alert to indications that the client is no longer benefiting from the coaching relationship.
- Coaches will encourage their clients or sponsors to make a change if the coach believes the client or sponsor would be better served by another coach or by another resource.
- Coaches will suggest their client seek the services of other professionals when deemed necessary or appropriate.
Section 4. Confidentiality/Privacy
- Coaches will maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality with all client and sponsor information. Coaches will have a clear agreement contract before releasing information to another person, unless required by law.
- Coaches will have a clear agreement upon how coaching information will be exchanged among coach, client, and sponsor.
- Coaches will have associated coaches and other persons whom they manage in service of their clients and their sponsors in a paid or volunteer capacity make clear agreements or contracts to adhere to these Confidentiality/ Privacy standards and the entire Standards of Conduct to the extent applicable.
Session time commitment and cancellations
- Session dates and times will be mutually arranged. It is important that you are on time for these sessions. If for some reason you are unable to keep an appointment let me know as soon as possible and no later than 24 hours prior to our appointment. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will still be charged at the regular fee.
- Coaches are expected to respond to messages within 24 hours weekdays and within 48 hours over weekends.
- If You need to cancel or reschedule a coaching session
7.1 If You cancel a Coaching Session on 24 hours’ or more notice TT shall refund 100% back into the User Account and send an email confirmation confirming the same; or
7.2 If You cancel a Coaching Session on less than 24 hours’ notice, You will be required to pay 100% of the User Fees.
8.3 If You cancel a Coaching Session without cause, or if You repeatedly cancel Training Sessions, TT may end this User Platform Agreement in accordance with the site terms and conditions. The number of coaching sessions cancelled by You is kept on your record.
- If the Coach needs to cancel or reschedule the coaching session
8.1 If the Coach needs to reschedule a Training Session for any reason prior to the session, or due to technical or other unavoidable reasons during a session, then they will liaise directly with the parent to find a mutually agreed new date and time. If a new date cannot be agreed then the fee will be refunded in full.
- Any refund requests must be sent to My Family Coach by You via email to i[email protected] (i.e. full name, sort code and account number).
10.1 A representative from My Family Coach will be in touch and shall arrange refund to You as soon as possible but refunds are normally processed within seven (7) to fourteen (14) days of receiving your refund request and subject always to the timescales imposed by your banking clearing systems.
