Behaviour & Additional Needs | Dr Claire Conlon

behaviour & additional needs

In this episode, our expert guest, Dr Claire Conlon, talks about understanding and supporting behaviour in children with additional needs.

Claire is a Senior Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Trinity College, Dublin. She is the Founder and Director of The Caterpillar Clinic. The Caterpillar Clinic supports families in areas such as behavioural challenges, anxiety, autism and parental trauma.

Claire often says to put down the books and instead for parents to observe what their children need and what they are asking for in their behaviour. No book will understand your child the way you do. However, she does recommend a book called Principles of Attachment-Focused Parenting by Daniel Hughes. It’s available here.
