Behaviour & Consistency | Jack Taylor

behaviour consistency

Clare discusses behaviour and the importance of consistency with expert guest, Jack Taylor.

Jack is an Assistant Principal in a London Secondary School. He has worked in developing behaviour systems in his school and he’s now leading on raising standards. He is part of the school’s safeguarding team and a drama specialist.

In this episode, Jack recommends the book Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek. You can find the book here.

Jack also shares three top tips with us:

  • 1. Be consistent: If you say you are going to do something you should stick to it!

  • 2. Follow the policies: They are created for us, so our job is to make sure we all use them. If we don’t, we only make ours and others lives more difficult.

  • 3. Start each day and lesson with a fresh start: It’s hard to not let outside factors affect our work. Sometimes you have a bad day at work but it’s important to leave that behind and focus on starting the new day as a fresh start.

My Family Coach is a podcast about factors that influence behaviour in education, all in handy 15 minute (ish) bite-sized chunks. Each episode features a new guest chatting about a different aspect of behaviour and leaves you with three handy tips on behaviour.
