Lauren talks to Clare about bullying and how to support children of all ages if they’re being bullied.

In this episode, expert guest, Lauren Seager-Smith, talks to Clare about bullying and behaviour, including recognising signs that a child might be being bullied, and what to do if your child is being bullied.

Lauren was CEO at bullying prevention charity, Kidscape. Before this, she headed up the work of the Anti-Bullying Alliance, coordinating Anti-Bullying Week in schools throughout England.

She has worked with children and families for over twenty years, including roles with Save the Children and Reading Borough Council. Lauren is a trustee of Children England and a committee member of Action for Children and is passionate about children’s rights, particularly in education.

Lauren recommends a book called Help with Bullying and Relationships: a Kidscape guide for children and teenagers.

The three top tips Lauren shares with us in the episode are:

    1. The only way is through. With the right support, your child can get through a bullying situation.

    1. Stay calm. Focus on the impact and agree an action plan.

    1. You are not alone. Seek help from anti-bullying charities and organisations, such as Kidscape.
